St Serf's News and Events
This is my last letter to you as Rector, part of a succession of last things I am doing as Rector. It is an ending but feels more like a change of jobs rather than stopping altogether because there are a number of things that I will continue to do; with Mission Action Planning and the Congregational Growth Group in the Diocese and with the wider Anglican Church through the Provincial Overseas Committee. It will be a change of pace not to be ministering to the ABI Group and I will miss being with you on Sundays but we have travelled a long way together and the time is right for someone else to take up the leadership. We are greatly blessed that Maureen has been with us in recent years and will provide continuity during the interregnum; supported by Jean, the Lay Ministers and the three Vestries. No doubt you will continue to see me in Tesco and ASDA because we will still be living in Dalgety Bay, though travelling to Sunday worship elsewhere.
Let me offer to you a familiar and lovely saying of St Paul from his letter to the church at Philippi:
‘Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.’
Yours in Christ
